NH90 Multimission Helicopter

The NH90 NFH is a unique integrated naval Weapon System able to operate from Frigates and perform Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Anti Surface Warfare (ASuW)operations autonomously and/or in conjunction with the parent ship.

Main missions:

• ASW: detecting, classifying, identifying by type, tracking and attacking submarines. 
• ASuW: detecting, tracking, classifying, identifying by type surface units.
  The attack of such targets can be performed independently or by a third friendly party through the Over-The-Horizon Targeting (OTHT) procedure.
• SAR: on sea and ashore

Complementary missions:

• Maritime Surveillance/ Patrol
• Limited Anti-Air-Warfare (AAW)
• Logistic Transport/Utility Support
• When properly configured:

-VERtical REPlenishment (VERTREP)
-Troop transport
-CASualty EVACuation (CASEVAC)
-Special Operations including anti-terrorism

Thanks to its global characteristics (highly integrated mission equipment with an advanced Tactical Control System performing data fusion, data correlation and Tactical Situation Compilation; handling qualities enhanced by the Fly-by-Wire system; reduced Crew workload) the NH90 NFH has the capability to perform ASW and ASuW Primary Missions:

       •with a minimum Crew of 3 (1 Pilot / 1 TACCO in the Co-pilot post / 1SENSO at cabin console).
      •by Day and Night including adverse weather
       •with ship deck motion up to Sea State 6

       •2 Anti-Ship Missiles Marte MK2/S
or
       •2 Torpedoes (MU 90, MK46 or Stingray)
